| Abstract: |
| Bacterial diseases pose a major challenge to global public health. Against the backdrop of the escalating crisis of antimicrobial resistance, the strategic value of proactive prevention via vaccines has become increasingly prominent. Fueled by groundbreaking advances in interdisciplinary technologies spanning immunology, synthetic chemistry, structural biology, synthetic biology and beyond, the research and development (R&D) of bacterial vaccines has entered a new era of precise and diversified development, including steady iterative optimization of conventional vaccines and accelerated R&D and application of novel vaccine technologies. Prevention and control technologies targeting intractable pathogenic bacteria have become the core research priorities in this field. To systematically review and showcase cutting-edge research achievements in this discipline and build an academic exchange platform featuring in-depth integration of industry, academia, research and regulatory evaluation, this issue features a special column titled “Innovation and Application of Bacterial Vaccines”. This special column focuses on three research dimensions including “original innovation in vaccine design and technical platforms”, “industrialization key technologies and product upgrading”, as well as “quality control systems and regulatory science”. It broadly calls for high-quality academic outputs, aiming to gather state-of-the-art technologies, innovative methodologies and practical experience within the field, so as to provide references and insights for enhancing the capacity of original innovation in bacterial vaccines and facilitating the industrial transformation of scientific research findings. |
