Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Tibetan medicine is an integral part of the treasure trove of Chinese medicine and a valuable health legacy formed by the people of all ethnic groups on the Tibetan Plateau through long-term production and daily life practices. However, due to limitations in existing technology, research on the modernization of Tibetan medicine still faces critical bottlenecks, such as an unclear material basis, unknown mechanisms of action, and a lack of quality standards. This issue of “Chinese Journal of Modern Applied Pharmacy” features a special section on Tibetan medicine, bringing together multiple papers that systematically present the latest advances in research on the modernization of Tibetan medicine from three dimensions: the survey and sustainable use of Tibetan medicinal resources, the systematization of Tibetan medicine theory and literature, and the active ingredient basis and pharmacological mechanisms of Tibetan medicines. The special issue integrates cutting-edge technical approaches-including structure-activity relationships, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and multi-model pharmacological evaluation-to focus on major diseases common at high altitudes, such as liver injury, liver cancer, lung injury, gastric ulcers, and osteoarthritis. It provides an in-depth explanation of the scientific principles underlying the synergistic treatment of these conditions through the regulation of multiple pathways-including the NLRP3 inflammasome/pyroptosis, RAGE-PI3K-Akt, and NF-κB pathways-by active components in Tibetan medicine. The research findings presented in this special issue provide important academic guidance and scientific support for promoting the inheritance and innovation of Tibetan medicine and the high-quality development of ethnic medicine.
